How Rahi Assists with the Design and Buildout of Multi-Tenant Data Centers

According to the most recent data center trends report from CBRE, data center inventory in primarily North American markets grew 17 percent year-over-year in 2021. These markets also saw record absorption rates of 50 percent, meaning that data center occupants immediately used up half of the newly available capacity. In Silicon Valley, data centers have a vacancy rate of just 1.6 percent.

Demand for capacity shows no sign of abating, so new data center buildouts are expected to continue at a rapid pace in 2022. Rahi is here to help with a team dedicated to multi-tenant data centers. While Rahi has provided data center design and infrastructure services for years, the new team is unique in its ability to deliver a global, unified solution suite.

Supply chain constraints have been a key focus of the multi-tenant data center group. The team has been going through a rigorous evaluation process to identify best-in-class products that are readily available worldwide. Customers can expect the same levels of quality and service no matter where their data center is located.

Choosing the Right Solutions

The multi-tenant team specializes in the data center “grey space” — the behind-the-scenes area that houses the power and cooling systems, cabling, and related infrastructure. The team’s expertise overlaps into “white space” — the area dedicated to the IT equipment — with racks and cabinets, power distribution units (PDUs), and related gear.

In terms of cooling systems, we have identified vendors that offer liquid cooling as well as computer room air conditioner (CRAC) technologies. Power systems include room-level PDUs, remote power panels, backup power systems, and other components. We also provide complete structured cabling services, including traditional copper and fiber-optic cabling.

The vendor evaluation process enables the team to provide a turnkey solution that saves the customer a tremendous amount of legwork. The objective is to enable rapid deployment with products that will deliver long-term value, not simply fill a gap.

The global partners we’ve selected give us access to the most innovative technology available in the marketplace today. In many cases, we are able to offer solutions that take our customers’ data centers to the next level and give them competitive advantages in a crowded marketplace.

Delivering Long-term Value

Many customers operate multiple multi-tenant data centers and have developed standardized designs and preferred vendor options across their facilities. While we certainly work within those parameters, customers are highly appreciative of vendor recommendations and our procurement and logistics capabilities. We also offer a complete design and engineering assistance. Rahi’s data center experts will develop a design that not only meets immediate needs but will provide the efficiency, agility, and manageability needed for long-term operation.

Cost efficiency is a key element of modern data center design, but we also consider environmental sustainability in our product selections. We are aligning ourselves with partners that base their efficiencies not only on reducing operational costs but on minimizing carbon emissions as well.

Multi-Tenant data center operators are building out more facilities to meet the burgeoning demand for space and power capacity. Rahi’s multi-tenant data center team provides end-to-end solutions for the data center grey space, with a carefully selected suite of products that provide consistency and peace of mind for projects around the world.
